In her own words:

"I was coming back to work from maternity leave and was lacking confidence since I'd been away from my machine for six months. A friend of mind suggested that I sit in on church services that a fellow court reporter was captioning."

"I was introduced to Pat Gardiner who had been captioning for New Life Church. When she told me she had lost the use of the fingers on one hand and was looking for help to keep the captioning going I jumped at the opportunity. I sat in on services for about three months building my speed and my dictionary and learning how things worked and then went 'solo' during a small service."

"I've gained so much from being on this team: Support from five very professional and highly skilled reporters, my dictionary has been growing by leaps and bounds, but most of all I've made some wonderful friends!"
